We’re coming up to the end of a semi-successful summer season here. It started out a little disappointing in that all Tuesday cruises on the Island Star were cancelled due to predicted shortages in tourism and high fuel prices. Summer seemed to work itself through O.K. without that day. Our summer here in Canada was a very wet one – raining some 45 days out of 60 for July & August. That put a damper on many of the audiences, who justifiably upset that it decided to rain every day of their summer vacation and made my job a little more challenging. Now that the summer is nearly over it is looking more like the hot sunny one we were expecting all along.
I have put together a revamped show though that is a little punchier than before, shortening songs and adding new anecdotes, and it has been very well received.
Also, I have begun work on my new CD, recording a few tracks in August while Melissa Wand was on a short stopover at home before heading back out on a cruise ship somewhere in Asia. We re-recorded an acoustic version of “Unloved”, a song we originally did on my “I Guit Around” CD. At the same time we recorded “That’s The Way Love Goes” a Merle Haggard/Jewel duet, and “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” the Streisand/Diamond classic. Other titles I am considering are :Carrying your love with me – George Strait I’ll never forgive my heart – Brooks & Dunn Remember when – Alan Jackson One night a day – Garth Brooks Home – Michael Buble Falling slowly – Song from the “Once” soundtrack Stardust – Willie Nelson You don’t know me – Ray Charles/Michael Buble Margaritaville – Jimmy Buffett Two Pina Coladas – Garth Brooks
As well, since my first 3 CDs a re out of print now I am considering doing new updated versions of :
For the good times – Ray Price
Help me make it through the night – Kris Kristofferson
Make the world go away – Eddy Arnold
What a wonderful world – Louis Armstrong
I certainly welcome any suggestions you may have!
I am not sure of even an approximate release date of this CD – I would like to take some time to reflect on these choices and make sure I am releasing my best CD ever.We are leaving for Florida in early November to dry off and hopefully have a very good season there. We’ve definitely enjoyed our summer here in Kingston. We have a great apartment in downtown Kingston and Mila has been very busy taking photos for KTIC. You can check her web site She is the best!:
